About Karine Garzi

Artistic approach

The work of Karine Garzi starts from the human figure — not as anecdote, but as carrier of emotion and movement. In the clay, and later in the bronze, she searches for the moment before the gesture, the tension the body holds.

Her sculptures are marked by a raw, living surface across which the light keeps shifting. The patina — copper, dark, verdigris — is not decoration but a skin.

Biography

Born in Vallauris, raised among the ceramic workshops that have populated the town since Picasso. Studied sculpture at Villa Arson in Nice and specialised in bronze techniques at the Barthélémy foundry in Crest.
